The
redevelopment of Arcadia High School, Scottsdale Unified School District, was a
3 year phased project in a tight land-locked urban environment that was to be
built while school was in session. The vision for the design of the school was
to respect the history (citrus neighborhood), character, culture and scale of
the place while being transformed into a 21st century learning
environment. The design concept was
informed by the idea of a donut with a large interior courtyard that could be
viewed from any part of the school. The
basic building form, material, color and landscape pallet tied back to the
historical context while creating smaller learning communities within the
larger campus fabric. Project completed while at Orcutt | Winslow.
